Notes

1. About the surrounding environment

This campground is situated in an area that was struck by the 2011 tsunami. It’s close to the ocean and while the wind is strong, there aren’t enough surrounding trees or buildings to block the wind. Please make your reservation keeping in mind the area is windy and you will need to be especially careful setting up your tent and using campfires.

2. Fire usage

What stoves, etc. you can use differs depending on the site. Please see the chart below for details on what kinds of stoves you can use.

  • No open fires.
  • Auto camping sites can use fire pits, etc. if you use both a ground covering (carbon felt) and a campfire sheet.
  • Tent camp sites and campfire tent sites are allowed to use fire pits, etc. on gravel areas only..
  • The only fireworks OK for use are handheld sparklers, in the gravel area only. (Please use responsibly and be considerate of others)
  • Discard your used charcoal at the designated container next to the composting toilet only.
  • This area can be very windy during certain seasons and times of day. Be especially careful about the lawn and dried grass. If something feels unsafe, put the fire out immediately.
  • Alcohol stoves and gas stoves are OK for supervised use (please be careful).
  • No fire allowed on campground when a fire warning is in effect (maximum wind speed is over 10 meters per second, when maximum humidity is less than 35%, etc).

※ Natori Trail Center sells firewood, which is sold as a bundle of conifer firewood and as hardwood remnants.

3. Garbage

Please either take all your garbage home with you, or dispose of it using one of the following methods.
① We can take burnable garbage (no firewood) and plastic garbage from you during checkout.

Auto camp site users can park one vehicle per site. However, if that vehicle is not parked within the auto camp parking space or is too big for the parking space, you cannot park it at the auto camp site. Parking at other auto campsites or on the road inside the campground inconveniences other campers, and is not allowed. Please use the parking lot in front of Natori Trail Center instead.

For tent camping site, campfire tent camping site users,
Please use the parking lot in front of Natori Trail Center. Tent campers can drive their car to the space in front of the composting toilet to load and unload supplies/gear.

5. Quiet time

Many types of people come to use this campground: people hiking the Michinoku Coastal Trail, people who just want to camp. Some campers need to get up early the next day, so please respect the campground quiet time. Quiet time starts at 9:00 PM.

If there is an earthquake while you’re using the campground and there is a tsunami advisory, a tsunami warning, or a major tsunami warning, evacuate immediately. If it was a strong earthquake and you cannot tell if there was a tsunami advisory or warning, evacuate. The evacuation site to Natori Trail Center is Yuriage Chuo Danchi. Use the emergency stairs and go to the roof. Please note that emergency food and water are not provided at the evacuation site, so please bring them with you during the evacuation if possible.

In case of sudden illness, fire or an accident

In case of sudden illness, a fire, or accident, please call 110 for the police at 119 for the fire department or an ambulance yourself first. Interpretation services when calling 119 are available in many places through Japan, including in Natori. See this Fire Disaster and Management Agency page for details in Japanese.
