We have an additional announcement regarding the revision of the Hiking Map Book.

As previously announced, the revised edition of the Hiking Map Book (ver.02), scheduled for release on May 1, 2025, will include additional information, standardized map orientation, and changes to some route sections. Because the number of route changes—including minor adjustments—is extensive, we initially chose not to provide detailed explanations and planned to supplement the information via Google Maps and GPX data.

However, in response to inquiries from several hikers asking for specifics on which routes have changed, we have decided to share information about the significant route changes.

The route changes listed were selected based on the following criteria:

Please note that along the Michinoku Coastal Trail, road construction and realignments continue daily as part of post-disaster recovery efforts. As a result, some areas may no longer match the current maps published by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, which are used as the base for the Hiking Map Book. Minor changes have therefore been excluded from this notice and should be assessed by each hiker on-site.

• Routes that have been changed to ensure safety, due to current difficulty or potential hazards (e.g., deterioration of trail conditions, increased vehicle traffic)
• Routes modified to improve the overall hiking experience
• Routes altered due to major road realignments
