Notice: Change to the Operating Period of the MCT Boat Service (Miyato – Urato Islands)

The fishermen’s boat service will operate from April 15 to November 14 in 2026.
Reservations will open on March 1.

Hikers can travel by reserved fisherman’s boats between Miyato in Higashi-Matsushima and the Urato Islands in Shiogama City (Sabusawajima Island).
This route is a special boat service created for the MCT and is not a regular scheduled service, so reservations must be made at least five days in advance.
As this boat service is operated by local fishermen using their fishing boats, please note that reservations may not always be available on your preferred date and time.

1. Course and season

(1) Boat course: Between Miyato in Higashi-Matsushima and the Urato Islands in Shiogama City (Sabusawajima Island), Miyagi Prefecture
Please refer to Hiking Map Book 09 for details.

(2) Boarding Locations:
Higashimatsushima side: Okumatsushima Pleasure Boat Pier (next to Aomina)
Shiogama side: Sabusawa Island Pier

(3) Season: Between April 15 and November 14, 2026

(4) Departure times: Departing Miyato at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 12:00 PM and departing Sabusawajima Island at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.

2. Cost

Adults 4,000 yen/person
Children 1,000 yen/person (adult price applies to middle schoolers and older)

※Only one person needs to make a reservation for the boat to run. Please pay the boat driver in cash when you board.

3. Reservations

Advance reservation is required. Please make your reservation by phone or E-mail at least five days in advance.
Please provide the following information:
1. your name 2. cell phone number or E-mail address 3. date and time of embarkation 4. location 5. number of people

There is a possibility that the boat may not be able to sail due to high waves on the day of departure.
(We will contact the boat captain on your behalf the day before your trip to confirm whether the boat service can operate, and will inform you of the result.)
