[Tsunami Advisory for the Iwate Coast Has Been Lifted]
A tsunami advisory had been issued for the coastal areas of Iwate Prefecture following the earthquake that occurred off the coast of Sanriku at around 17:03 on Sunday, November 9.
The advisory was lifted at 20:15. The Japan Meteorological Agency warns that in the region where this earthquake occurred, there have been past cases in which earthquakes of similar scale continued for about a week after a major earthquake. In areas that experienced strong shaking, please remain cautious of earthquakes of similar intensity for about one week, and also be aware that a larger earthquake could occur. In particular, earthquakes of larger magnitude are more likely to occur within the first two to three days.
