The Tokai Nature Trail (Tokai Shizen Hodo), the first long-distance nature trail in Japan, opened in 1974 and celebrated its 50th anniversary this July. And the tenth long-distance nature trail, the Michinoku Coastal Trail, entirely opened in June 2019 and celebrated its 5th anniversary last month.
To commemorate them, a panel exhibition will be held to introduce the outline and highlights of long-distance nature trails, including the Tokai Nature Trail and the Michinoku Coastal Trail, as well as the appeal of hiking journeys.
Please visit the Art Gallery in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Park’s Information Center.
In August, there will be fun side events such as gallery talks and the “Shinjuku Gyoen Trail”, an early morning walk through Shinjuku Gyoen with a nature exploration guide.
