青森県八戸市から福島県相馬市までの東北太平洋沿岸を結ぶ「みちのく潮風トレイル」。
今回は、石巻市・女川町エリアにスポットをあて、地域の山歩きに詳しい方をゲストに、南三陸・海のビジターセンター／石巻・川のビジターセンターのスタッフが歩きながら撮影したルートの動画を見ながら、その地点の解説や思い出をお話しいただきます。
また、このエリアはヤマビルが出現する場所としても有名です。春～秋に歩いた方は、かなりの確率でヤマビルに遭遇しているのではないでしょうか。
そこで、このエリアの特徴でもあるヤマビルについて、ヒルは木から落ちてこない。という本を書いた「子どもヤマビル研究会」の皆さまとコーディネーターの樋口大良氏にオンラインで登壇していただき、これまでの研究成果を発表いただきます。
科学的な視点からヤマビルについて教えてもらい、ヤマビルと共生しながら歩き旅を楽しむにはどうすればいいかを皆さまと一緒に考えていきたいと思います。
今回のフォーラムは、会場でご参加いただくだけではなく、YouTubeによるライブ配信も行います。たくさんの皆さまのご参加／ご視聴お待ちしております。

子どもヤマビル研究会は、四日市市内の小4～中3までの自然が大好きな子どもたちの集まりです。ヤマビルを通して自然の仕組みや不思議さを探求しています。
子どもたち一人一人が研究者で、この会には指導者はいません。
みんなの研究を調整するコーディネーターがいます。

The Michinoku Coastal Trail is very long, stretching along Tohoku’s Pacific coast from Hachinohe, Aomori to Soma, Fukushima. For this forum, the spotlight is on the Ishinomaki and Onagawa areas in particular as local guests well-versed in hiking and staff members from Minamisanriku Marine Visitor Center and Ishinomaki Riverside Visitor Center guide participants along videos of the trail route.
This part of the route is also known for having leeches, with many hikers visiting in the spring through the fall encountering leeches at a pretty high rate. So, this event will also feature a presentation from the members of the “Children’s Land Leech Research Club” and group coordinator Mr. Dairyo Higuchi. This group wrote a book about how leeches don’t actually fall from trees. During their talk, the group will present their research findings thus far. Listeners will get a chance to learn more about leeches from a scientific perspective and how to have a fun journey on foot while coexisting with leeches.

Part 2 Let’s learn more about pesky leeches! (Talk by “Children’s Land Leech Research Club”)
The Children’s Land Leech Research Club is a group for children living in Yokkaichi City between 4th grade of elementary school and third year of junior high school who are interested in nature. Through leeches, the children learn more about nature and its mysteries. Each child is a researcher, and there are no guides or mentors, just one adult who helps coordinate research.
